We value our Biblical Foundations:
All our Church life operates from a biblical base. We believe in the inerrancy and authority of the Scriptures in their original form. We believe that all Scripture is God-breathed, useful for showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.
We value Loving Family Relationships
We believe people are important because they are important to God and created in His image. We believe our love for God will be demonstrated in our love for people. We believe we can demonstrate this through our church family relationships, through compassion for the poor and through engagement in our communities. We believe a God-honouring Christian walk must manifest itself in church family life. We believe in spending quality time with our church family, praying together, learning together, worshipping together and laughing together. We believe this encompasses all ages, all races and all cultures. We believe in the inherent value of all people, and celebrate and honour God’s creativity, demonstrated in the diverseness of His creation.
We value Community
We believe that life change happens best in small groups or cells. Our cells strive to keep truth, joy, trust, and service in balance. We believe in forming healthy mentoring relationships to teach and encourage others towards living God-honouring lives. We will encourage intergenerational cells wherever possible as we believe that this is the best way to disciple our children. We believe in the authentic relationships developed in Cells. We believe these groups emulate the early churches in Acts, and are simply the most effective vehicle for personal evangelism and discipleship.
We Value Prayer
We want to make Prayer a central focus of our cells, ministries, celebrations and communities. We are committed to developing a prayer focus, strategy, and organisation utilizing a range of ideas, opportunities, and ministries for meaningful, powerful, and passionate prayer that helps each one to know God more intimately and give Him the worship due Him.
We value Evangelism & Missions
We believe that all lost people matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the church. We believe evangelism is not limited to a chosen few, but that authentic relationships can provide the opportunity for any Christ-follower to lead another to Christ. We want our primary focus to be people, not programmes. We will continue taking the light to all people and all nations, it is the focus of our structures and ministries.
We value a Commitment to Excellence
We believe that excellence honours God and inspires people. Therefore, we relentlessly pursue excellence in all we do. We invest time, energy and money to ensure that all that we do and all that we use, we do to the best of our abilities.
We value the Ministry of the Holy Spirit:
We actively encourage the ministry of the Holy Spirit in whichever way He chooses to work among us. We believe that this is relevant within out lives, within our cells and wherever or whenever the family, the body that is Westway Bethel, meets. We believe that this will lead to the growth of a passionate spirituality amongst our members.
We value the Empowering of our People
We will put structures into place to enable every person to fulfil the potential that God has planned for them. We believe in identifying, encouraging, and growing leaders. We believe continuous development of leaders is essential for healthy growth. Our servant leaders strive to empower, equip, think strategically, and be intentional.
We value Contemporary Practice
We believe that the church should be culturally relevant while remaining true to Scripture. We will actively strive to be geared to the times and the communities in which we live through our services, printed materials, teaching, and use of the arts.
We Value Creative Worship of God
We believe our style of worship in all our meetings plays a significant role in determining who comes through our doors. Our worship style is focused on reaching the lost in our community. We believe in being creative, fresh and dynamic in all our communication. We love to encourage and inspire people to think outside of the box. We believe in using arts and technology to reach our unsaved neighbours, friends and family. We view creative worship as an opportunity to help people understand that God is forever.
We Value Commitment and Accountability
We believe that becoming an extraordinary follower of Christ is normal for every Christ Follower and requires deep spiritual commitments. These include committing to Christ as Leader and Forgiver, family, stewardship, life-long learning, one another, and ministry. We believe that we will be held accountable for how we used the gifts and resources with which God has entrusted us. Our desire is to be accountable to God and to one another in striving to be wise stewards of His gifts.
We value Structural and Operational Flexibility
We believe in reaching people where they are. We therefore keep our operational structure and processes flexible and open to evaluation, making them both functional and transparent. We believe in building and equipping effective cells. Wherever possible, we support cell-based ministry rather than a ministry of one. We believe the natural consequence of the great commission is church growth. Our vision statement and strategic planning anticipate growth, and we are intentional about reaching out to the lost in our communities.
